Organizing Children's School Lunches

My children start school tomorrow.  Seriously, where did summer go??  HOW is it already back to school time? Although I'm sad to see summer go, I am ready for routine and schedule again. I'm ready to bring things back to Delightful Order in my home. With four boys at home and a crazy busy summer, home projects just haven't been finished.  So I'm ready to finish projects and decorate and organize my place again.  September ALWAYS does that to me!

First on my organizing list was to prep school lunches. I like to plan ahead as much as possible. I make my three  school boys cold lunch every day.  So to prepare for easier, quicker mornings  I came up with this solution:
I prep most of the items that will be going into their lunch boxes in the beginning of the week.  The morning of the school day, as the boys are getting ready for the day, I make the sandwiches and toss the sandwich, a freezer pack and all the items from their section of the tray into their lunch boxes and send them off with a kiss and a hug and a reminder to "be a light unto the world."
I found these divided plastic trays at the Dollar Tree last January and they work just great for my three school boys.  I purchased five of the divided trays. One for Monday through Friday.
I fill the trays with something a little different for each day of the week.
I have an extra refrigerator in our garage...
and this is where I store the trays.
I keep gogurt in the freezer and add them to their lunch boxes the morning of, as well.   By the time my boys eat lunch at school the gogurt is thawed out.  They like frozen gogurt as a snack too, while they're at home.
I love this setup!  It worked well last year and saved me so much time each school day  morning.  I thought about prepping the sandwiches for the week as well, but figured the bread  might get too soggy by Friday, so I just make the sandwiches each morning.

Who else prepares school lunches ahead of time?  Do you prep sandwiches for the week?  Share your tips and tricks on organized lunches by commenting below.  I would love to hear from you.
:)
May you be a little inspired!

Wall Art for The Playroom and Gift Ideas

I LOVE subway art for the walls! It's just super cute!  So I created some for my playroom walls:
I created the alphabet art (which is available to purchase in my shop.)
I framed it and hung it in my upstairs playroom as wall art.
Simply click the image above to be directed to the alphabet wall art for boy.
or click the image above to be directed to the alphabet wall art for girl.

Either one would also be adorable in a child's bedroom OR anywhere in your home AND they would make a great gift too.

Another gift idea (for a new mom) is this Custom Birth Stats and Initial Wall Art, which is also available in my shop:
It would be adorable hanging on the wall in a nursery too.
Simply click the photo to be directed to this item in my shop.

:)
Happiest Monday to you all!

May you be a little inspired!
UNTIL NEXT TIME,  DaNita

Storing Children's Toys - Part 3

Remember way back when I shared part of my upstairs toy room with you?  It seems like it was forever long ago.  Time just keeps getting away from me. This summer has been crazy busy! I can't believe that school is about to start for my boys - it seems like they just got out yesterday!

Anyway... I'm finally getting around to showing you the rest of my storage solutions for the toy room.  I still have more to finish in this room to complete it.  My plan is to finish it once my kiddo's are in school.  It's easier to finish projects with one boy vs. four boys and naptime is when that will happen.
So here is the rest of my toy storage solutions in this room:
I've already showed you this post:
Click the photo above to go to the Storing children's toys - part 1 post.
and I've showed you this post:
Click the photo above to go to the Storing children's toys - part 2 post.

My boys have some larger toys and this is where they belong in the playroom:
Larger items fit nicely in this toy box.
I've had it  for many years.  I recently painted it white to match the room.   I think I've painted it about a gazillion times in the past.  It makes for great storage and my boys get extra seating in the room too.
Across the room are two little closets.
One of the closets store larger toys that don't fit into the toy box:
The other little closet stores Legos:
 Organized in clear plastic drawers.
I made labels for the bins.
Because I have a love affair with delightful labels.
;)
To keep the lego directions organized, I punch a hole into them and attach them to book rings.
they hang on simple hooks that I screwed into the wall.
and THAT my friends is how I store all the toys in my children's toy room.
Again, you can view toy room storage {part 1 HERE} and {part 2 HERE.}

When I designed our house plan, storage was such a huge priority.  If you're thinking of building, DO plan for a lot of storage room, if you can.

Here are my thoughts on Toys. LESS is Better!! With less, it's easier to keep organized and clean AND the kids don't get too overwhelmed with too many toys.

If you have too many toys and you simply can't part with them, try this: Pack some away into boxes, put them in the attic or a storage room and then every so often, switch them out with the toys you have out, packing away the ones they've played with for a while.  Your children will be so excited to see the "old" toys, they'll think it's Christmas and they've just received all BRAND NEW toys!

I still have more of this playroom to show you. Soon, I'll show you where the TV is and how I store DVDs and Wii Games AND more AND the before and after reveal!

So tell me, have you got an organized place for all your kiddo's toys?   Do you have too many toys?  Are you going to pack some away? Or are you going to donate them?  Do share, I'd LOVE to hear from you.

Remember to link up your organized toy areas any Thursday at my Delightfully Inspiring Thursday Link Party.

Child's Art Board Tutorial

Do you have an unused frame laying around your home? Create a fun and easy art board for your little one's artwork.
This one I created for my client.  She was needing a place to display her children's artwork and she had a large frame, not being used.  This is what it originally looked like:
By removing the glass and adding a few fun items to the board, it went from that plain cardboard to a usable piece:
Here are the steps on creating this fun board:
Remove the cardboard and cover it with material.  Wrap the material around the back of the of the cardboard and hot-glue.
I found these extra large clothes pins at Craft Warehouse.
Cut strips of cardstock paper to fit over the clothespin. Attach using Mod Podge.
I created the art wording in Microsoft Publisher. Printed it and cut the strips out and Mod Podged those onto the clothespins.
Before gluing, lay out your design to the way that you like it.
I love the jute twine and found it on sale at craft warehouse.
I certainly will be using more of it.
Once you are happy with the layout, hot-glue all the pieces onto the board.
I added some buttons.
and VOILA - you have a cutesy place to display your child's art.
Hang it on a wall and start using your board.
Here's a look at the before and afters together.
Last year I created this art cork board for my chicklets:
Click the photo above to be directed to the post.

Do you have a special place to display your child's art that they bring home from school?  Do share!

and .... speaking of school, I'm working on something that I'm super duper excited to show you to help keep your children organized during school.

Do come back soon to see what I've been up to and if you don't already, follow me or subscribe by email to stay updated on all things Delightfully Organized and more!

Have a truly blessed weekend!
