Train Birthday Party Ideas

My youngest son, Chase, had his 3rd birthday last weekend.  Right now he's in love with choo choo trains. So of course, I threw him a train theme birthday party.  It was so much fun planning.

I LOVE creating party printables! So I created an entire train party package and it's NOW available HERE in my SHOP.
First I invited family and friends with this custom "train ticket" invitation...
which can be found HERE in my shop.
As a table centerpiece, I filled a pot with foam and stuck lollipops into it.
The Chase & Friends topper is my custom welcome door sign...
which is available HERE in my shop.
Here are some more of the party details:
Balloons... I Love them! and so do the little ones.  Photo courtesy of my niece, Tiahna.  Thanks, Tiahna, for all your help with the little details of the party & for so many of these great photos!!
Bubble Fun...
and a train table... more on the this table coming soon!

The cake tasted better than it looked. ;)  (I've told you before that I am SO NOT a pro cake decorator - but my little guys LOVE their custom cakes, which  is why I make them.)   I made the track shaped like a C for Chase. It's made with Marshmallow Rice Krispy treats, then frosted and decorated. The train is made with a Rice Krispy bar too, then decorated with candy.
I made a sorbet punch (sprite, rainbow sorbet (or raspberry sorbet is yummy too)  & one  can of frozen lemonade) The kiddo's loved it and my boys have been asking me to make it again real soon.
My niece and I made candy trains as thank you favors... View the tutorial on these guys HERE.

In the printable party package you get party circle tags:
Which can be used so many different ways from cupcake toppers to thank you favor tags to stickers and more.
You also get water bottle labels...
and silverware wrappers...
and a printable party hat,  place-card/food labels & thank you cards.

Find the  train party pack here in my shop

Happy Party Planning!  Check back soon to see how I made the train table and to get the tutorial on the candy train party favors.

Storing Children's Toys & Books - Part 2

I've already shared part 1 of storing children's toys.  If you missed that post, you can view it HERE. This is part 2 of how I contain toys and books in my boy's playroom.

I love baskets.  I use them everywhere, even in the playroom.  I found these Stapel Baskets at Ikea and I bought two of the billy bookcases from Ikea also.

Here's the first bookcase:
and here's the second bookcase:
The baskets are GREAT!
and they're only $7.99 a piece.
Ikea has a smaller square version of these baskets too.
and you know that I LOVE labels, so of course, I HAD to make some...
I designed and printed them:
and they are available RIGHT HERE to purchase in my Etsy Shop.  These labels can be completely customized with your own wording, giving you the option to use them wherever you choose.

After printing the labels, I used Mod Podge to seal the label before cutting them out, because I don't want them to rip or tear.
After cutting them out, I Mod Podged them onto larger green circles that I cut out using my Cricut.  So far, the labels have been holding up real nice.

There you have it:
An organized area for my children's books and toys.
and the post on storage for the smaller toys:

Check back soon for more playroom organizing ideas. Including storing Lego's and  larger toys, to DVD's and Wii games and more.

Storing Children's Toys - Part 1

I've been plugging away at more organizing in my home.  I seriously don't think it will EVER be completely done.  It's kind of like decorating for me, it never seems to be finished.

When or IF I ever finish organizing or decorating my home, I can almost guarantee, that will be the exact time that I'm ready for a change or I've thought up a new and better way to organize this area or that area, thus NEVER being completely finished.

BUT that's okay. Organizing is  a little by little, baby step process. Start with the little stuff. Like a little closet, or a little cupboard or drawer.  Something that is doable in a short amount of time. Once you complete the one area, I bet you'll want to complete something else.

Okay, back to how I've organized toys in my boys' upstairs playroom.  A long time ago, I  shared my downstairs toy closet and how I contain toys in there. If you're new here and missed that post, {View it HERE.}

Pottery Barn has the coolest storage for toys!!  I Love.Love.Love. most of their playrooms and their storage!  However, what I do not Love, is the price.  So I was extremely excited to find some cute metal pails (at Target) to get the look that I was going for.

You know the little dollar section when you first walk into a Target?  Have you seen those cute little metal sand pails for children? They may even be in the toy section of Target. They come in blue, green, orange &  hot pink.  I picked some up in blue and green  AND this is what I use them for:
They aren't real big, so I store smaller items in them.
and more...

and...
But for $2.50 a piece (I think that's how much they are) they are perfectly cute and perfectly priced for the little toys! My next post will  show you how I store the bigger toys.
I cut the vinyl letters with my cricut and the Plantin SchoolBook cartridge.
 I LOVE it...
and it's so perfect, because my boys can grab the handle and bring the bucket with them wherever they want to play with the toys.

More of this playroom coming soon, along with Part 2 of storing toys and some fun wall art and more.

Do tell me, how do you contain your children's toys?
May you be a little inspired!
UNTIL NEXT TIME,  DaNita

Storage Bench & Wall Shelf for the Entry Way

I've been working on helping a client furnish and decorate her new home. I was SO excited to find the coolest storage unit for an entry way at a great price.  I simply MUST share it with you.

Maybe you've got this perfect area in an entry way or a back entrance or hallway and you need storage.  This may be just what you are looking for.
JCPenney
After a ton of online research I came upon the Ashton Bench and Wall Shelf Unit. You get the bench, the shelf, the four baskets and the cushion. All of that for $299.99 and if you have JCPenney coupons, you can save even more on the item.

I gave JCPenney a call and found out that the unit was available and would be delivered in 4-7 business days.  I mean seriously, I was excited!  So I called my client, she ordered it and it's so perfect!

Pottery Barn has the Samantha Entry Way Collection, and it's beautiful.
Pottery Barn
But we were going for the Pottery Barn look, without the Pottery Barn prices.  The shelf and bench is on sale at PB for $450.00-$500.00. PLUS you have to still get the baskets and the cushion too.

The JCPenney Ashton Bench item arrived in two boxes. Yes, it has to be put together, but it's a great piece, with so much storage and I think it's SO worth it.  I can't wait till it's put together and brought into my clients home, giving her a beautifully organized entry way.

Oh yeah and we also ordered this Coat Rack with Umbrella Stand  from JCPenney too.
JCPenney
My client is getting oodles of storage for her entry way.  I simply can't wait to see it all come together!  I'll share the end result, once it's complete.
