I've created an Everyday Message Board for my kitchen command center. It works great for me as I have to be able to see, at a glance, what is going on in my life. I actually DO have a life planner too {but in all honesty... I use it for my blogging life. More info on my life planner binder coming soon!} This message board helps me keep track of my everyday life.
The best thing about this project is that I didn't spend any money on it! I had the materials on hand and with a little creative thinking, a ton of hot-glue and some TLC, this is what I came up with:

As this message board is in my kitchen, I didn't want it to be too "officey' looking. So I made the board myself to have the items that I wanted on it and to give it the look I wanted.
The first thing I did was cover the board in fabric, exactly the way I did my craft room board.
I made some fabric flowers from black material and more flowers from leftover scraps from my craft room board.
A very important piece is my monthly calendar. I created & printed these on cardstock paper. This is where I write everything from appointments to birthdays, etc.
I also created a week at a glance page {available FREE for you to print at the bottom of this post.} I've laminated my page and I write in what I need to do under the days of the week with a dry erase marker. At the beginning of the following week, I simply wipe it off & start again! I have LOVED this part of the message board. I hot-glued black material behind it.
I made a little pocket out of fabric and hot glued it onto the board to hold note cards & my marker.
I hot-glued more black material & a binder clip to the board and laminated a blank piece of paper to write messages, etc. {using a dry erase marker to write the messages.}
In the upper left corner of the board I have a place for a photo. The black damasks are cut using my cricut & then rolled through my sticker maker {they're paper.} The little diamond Rhinestones are actually for scrapbooking - I've found them at craft warehouse in the dollar section. I use these for a lot of different things.
and that, my dear readers, is my everyday message board.NOW here's your FREE printable. I printed mine on pattern paper.
simply click on it to print your week at a glance page.
I would love to know if you've printed it. So if you do, please leave me a comment here. I would greatly appreciate it. If you missed my previous FREE printables - you can find them {here.}

ReplyDeleteGreat idea ... and to be so organized! As an empty nester, we kind of miss having all those notes about dance practice, band recitals, etc! ...but I don't know how we ever found the time to do all the things we did with an active family! Thanks for sharing.

ReplyDeleteAngela,
ReplyDeleteThanks! I believe this is about a 20x30 board.

I printed your week at a glance page. I like that I can add things vs. my google calendar week. Just have to try them both out. Oh and yours I wouldn't have to print out weekly just wipe and reuse. That is a bonus :)
ReplyDeleteI have a ton of t-shirts and scraps from projects in Generation T, I think they'll work really well for this sort of thing. How exciting! Thanks!!
ReplyDeletei want to print this.
ReplyDeleteDaNita, YOU ARE AMAZING!! I am not as disciplined but I crave order or I can't think so I am always on the lookout for things like what you've created. I am starting out in this "organizing" biz ( no experience with printables or making them ) and I am starting to homeschool my children in about....ONE MONTH so I'm on the mad lookout for everything and anything to keep our household running smoothly.
ReplyDeleteI am truly inspired by you. You have a gift!!
You are my hero!! I am so tired of having an ugly unorganized house, and I was so surprised to see that so much can be purchased from a dollar store! Thank you, thank you, a MILLION times - THANK YOU!!!!! My kids and my fiancee don't know it yet, but they will eventually be thanking you too!! :D
ReplyDeleteAlso, I tried printing this amazingly helpful page, but I can't. :( It just keeps printing photos from my computer. Very frustrating. But I love this idea, and I've been inspired to create my own! ;)
How did you create the calendar? I have come across ones you I can revise, but they aren't as adjustable, curious for tips. Love your organizing tips and blog, I am not organized, but strive to be. A work in progress...
ReplyDeleteThank you!
What a fantastic idea and great blog! Just found you and am addicted, lol....one question...how did you create the zebra paper clip hanger in your cabinet (the ones that you have your grocery list and honey do lists hanging from...I must HAVE these!! ;)
ReplyDeleteThose are binders that I picked up at office depot.
DeleteI LOVE all your ideas, and can't wait to start using some of them. Thank you for sharing!
