Organizing Under the Kitchen Sink

So how is your spring cleaning/organizing going? I've been finishing my kitchen cabinets.

Today, it's about reclaiming order under the kitchen sink.
The baskets are once again, from the Dollar Tree.
They hold everything under my sink.
It's nice to have it all contained.
 I have these great drawers to hold scrubbing brushes, etc.
and ...
I got this bag holder from Ikea a while back.
No need for a garbage can underneath, as I have a sliding garbage, right next to it.
and my cabinet has child proof locks to keep the little ones out.

Here are the before and after photos:
Organizing under the kitchen sink doesn't take a lot of time. Now, let's see yours.  Make sure to post before and after photo's of your kitchen organizing and come back here on Thursdays and link up your Delightful Order to my PARTY.

Boy Birthday Party Ideas

I figured it out the other day... I've planned 27 BOY birthday parties for my 4 boys in 10 years and I'm in the middle of planning the 28th! WOW - huh?! It's t.o.t.a.l.l.y true!

Today I want to share an inexpensive way to make a little child think their party is great, without breaking the bank!

Now before you look at these pictures, please KNOW, I'm not great at cake decorating, certainly not a pro, by any means. BUT I have 4 little guys who think I am and have told me so, with BIG grins, as I reveal their birthday cakes to them. To be great, in their eyes, is too cool, and to me, that's all that matters. So I continue to do what I do...

I let the "birthday boy" choose the theme for his party (of course, when they're old enough to choose) and then I put my thinking cap on and go with the theme. I love themed parties!

I don't buy expensive cakes or cupcakes. Often times, I make a box mix.. ;) and I make my own frosting. Many times, I've used toys to decorate their cake.  The birthday boy then gets to keep the NEW toy(s) displayed on the cake. These aren't cake toppers, their toys from the toy section of any store.

And . . . I love to design printable items (like invitations, cupcake toppers, thank you favor tags, silverware wrappers, decorations, and thank you notes, etc.) to go along with the party. In the past, I've also done a  few different themed printable party packs including, baby showers, bridal showers, etc. Get a little peek on my newest party planning right here in my ETSY shop :) The complete details  of that party coming soon.

Today I'm showing you what I've done with cakes or cupcakes that my boys have thought to be SUPER COOL!  Dressing up the cakes with toys, candy, etc...

cut & frost graham crackers to make shapes to add to your cake

 crush oreo cookies to make"dirt roads" for cakes
For now, while they're little, I'll continue letting them choose a theme for their parties.  They are growing all TOO fast and soon these "little things" will no longer be "cool."

Come back soon to see the complete details of my newest party planning.

Organizing the Medicine Cabinet

I'm not quite done my baby's room yet {still have a couple of finishing touches to complete before I post it.} I'll show you that room soon.

While I finish that room, I'm going to share some more organizing with you. I've been busy spring cleaning and re-organizing my kitchen. First up was the medicine cabinet. Yes, I have my medicine cabinet in the kitchen, because for one: I have little kids, and I don't want them to be able to 'help themselves' {if you know what I mean} and for two:  It makes most sense to me to have the medicine, bandaids, vitamins on the main level of my home.
The red baskets are from the Dollar Tree.
4 baskets for $4.00 {not bad, huh?}
labeled, of course :)
I laminated my labels
I also have a chart for my medicine cabinet too:
I have a hard time remembering what time I gave which medicine, to which kid, on which day. Therefore I write it all down, to track it. I've used this chart again and again, and it works really great for me. If my kiddos are sick for a few days and I call the doctors office and the nurse asks "how long has he been running a fever?" "when was the last time you gave him medicine?" "what and how much medication have you given him?" I refer to the chart & don't have to count on memory. {My memory is not great.} This medicine tracker is now available in my shop.  {View it HERE.}

Another new item in my shop are the labels for the medicine cabinet.
Find the LABELS {HERE}
As always, you can find all my charts and labels at the My Shop Tab on the top of my blog.
While spring cleaning and reorganizing in the kitchen, I remove everything from the cabinets, wipe down the inside, and think "how can I make this kitchen work better?" The end result: moving items from one cabinet to another. In a few posts, I'll show you the before and after photo's of most of my cabinet and drawer rearranging.

Here are the before and after photo's of my medicine cabinet:
 much better, I say... much better!
Does your kitchen feel like it 'works good'? While cooking/baking, is it easy to find all the items needed? Are your cabinets and drawers out of order? Come along with me and let's take control of our kitchens.  Plan a day to tackle the job. I bet you'll be pleasantly surprised when you do. Not just that, but success in accomplishing one space, motivates one to continue on.

So what do ya say, will you join me in reclaiming our kitchens? Make sure and post your before and afters of the space you organize and COME BACK here on Thursdays and link your greatness to my Delightfully Inspiring Thursday Linky Party.  Looking forward to seeing your posts!

* My medicine cabinet has since been moved, as I've learned some great advice from a pharmacist.  See where I store my medication now. READ the updated POST HERE. *

My Old Baby's Room

Today I'm showing you my "old" baby's room from my previous home.   The room was so cute and I Loved it! Although, I Love my new baby's even room more.  Before I show you that, take a look at the old one.
While we lived in our previous home, My ever-so-talented mother came for a visit.  She lives far away from me. On one of her visits, she painted a mural in my baby's room {actually she did many murals in that home.} She also made the bedding for baby's crib & sewed the window valance, made a table topper & completely recovered my chair & ottoman.

That was about 7 years ago.  Since then, she has completely recovered the chair again, made all new bedding, a new table topper & new curtains. I'll post the NEW room soon. Think: black, white, blue, polka-dots & zebra print!
See the stuffed animal hanging from the tree? That was a suggestion from my mother's cousin, who came for a visit. I LOVED the idea! So I nailed the stuffed monkey "climbing the tree."

Before my mother came out, I had started the mural.  She came in and finished the job, as I don't know the first thing about shading.  That explains why my toy closet mural has no shading.

:)
I bought unfinished finials {I liked them unfinished, so I kept them that way} and screwed them into the trim to achieve this look on the valance.
and that is my "old" baby's room. Check back soon to see my NEW baby's room.

I invite you to become a follower, if you aren't already. I LOVE my followers and I absolutely LOVE the great comments {so do continue leaving them.} Really... the followers, the comments, that's what keeps a blogger going! I appreciate and read each and every comment, so Thank YOU from the bottom of my heart!!

More Command Centers

I've already shared my kitchen command center with you.  View it {HERE} if you've missed it.  Here are a couple more command centers that I've had the privilege in helping create.
Jaycee's Command Center
This command center is in Jered & Jaycee's home. They hired me to come in and come up with organizational solutions for their home.  Jaycee did a lot of the decorating part of her command center, with ideas that I suggested. I think it turned out GREAT! View their laundry room post {HERE} and their craft room post {HERE} if you happened to miss them.
We set up a complete bill paying binder as well, organizing them similar to the way I've organized my own. {View my bill paying system here.} Jaycee chose to have a section for each month. Each section  of her binder has a printout similar to this one:
 and here's another command center I've helped create:
Tamara's Command Center
This one is a simple side table with drawers for organized essentials, baskets and a message/photo board. The table is from Homegoods. You can find tables like this anywhere.  I've even seen something similar at Ross. If you missed Tamara's laundry closet {view it HERE.}
Did you share your command centers at my Delightfully Inspiring Thursday Link Party? If not, come back here any Thursday and link up.

One day left to enter the current giveaway - {click here to be directed... and enter today.}

Wishing you a Happy Weekend :)
May you be a little inspired!
UNTIL NEXT TIME,  DaNita
